0 Port Royal, SC Port Royal, SC Full-time Full-time From $42,000 a year From $42,000 a year Position Summary Reporting to the Branch Director, Wellness Director manages the overall operations of the Association's healthy living initiatives and programming, designed to promote wellness, reduce health risks and reclaim health.
Wellness Director supervises, develops, and implements a full range of programming, services, partnerships, and community outreach to achieve strategic goals and provide outstanding service to all members, program participants, and partners.
This position provides direction, measurement and accountability to Association initiatives within the YMCA Healthy Living framework, member/participant engagement strategies and member/participant retention strategies.
The Wellness Director also provides advice and counsel regarding health & wellness programming best practices.
Essential Functions Provides direct leadership, development, and oversight for all wellness-related programs and initiatives, including but not limited to free member-based wellness programs, personal training, group wellness, programs for special populations, and evidence-based health programs.
Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community under strategic and operating plans.
Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs wellness staff and volunteers.
Reviews and evaluates staff performance.
Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
Builds and maintains a personal client base as a wellness coach and/or program instructor while building wellness staff face-time with members and participants.
Develop, manage, and monitor the wellness operating budget to meet or exceed fiscal objectives.
Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Compiles program statistics.
Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs and makes recommendations accordingly.
Continually evaluates group wellness classes and trends.
Makes recommendations to the Branch Executive on new trends and class strategic direction.
Alongside the association's marketing team, plans and implements marketing strategies for programming and the distribution of program information.
Collaborate to promote healthy living case for support in annual campaigns, and other association-wide events that promote the Y healthy living in the community.
Flexible work hours to ensure exposure to all facets of department operation and perform all other duties assigned by COO or Branch Manager.
Position Qualifications A minimum of an associate degree is required in exercise science, physical education, exercise psychology, behavioral science, or a health-related field, or a minimum of 3 years of experience in the required field.
Personal training certification through a reputable organization (i.
e.
, ACE, ACSM, NASM).
Self-driven with the ability to set effective team and individual goals and take ownership of results.
Demonstrate ability to multi-task and adapt to changing contexts and priorities.
Must understand how to build relationships and have strong interpersonal skills.
Have the ability to lead a strong staff team that is focused on creating a welcoming environment and providing a superior experience for all members at all times.
Must have a proven track record and a passion for exercise, nutrition, healthy living, and helping others live a healthier lifestyle.
Hands-on experience with utilizing data to make informed decisions.
Ability to understand, adapt to, and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives, and cultures.
